Research Institute for Plant-Based Nutrition, Giessen
Study centre at the Research Institute for Plant-based Nutrition (IFPE) in Bad Homburg
The Research Institute for Plant-Based Nutrition, IFPE for short, is a private research and consulting institute with the legal form of a non-profit limited liability company. The institute focuses on the research and scientific assessment of plant-based diets, both from a nutritional physiological and nutritional ecological perspective.
The IFPE has existed in its current form since mid-2020 and emerged from the Institute for Alternative and Sustainable Nutrition (Ifane). The IFPE (or its predecessor institute) has already been involved in several human studies on plant-based nutrition, such as the VeChi-Diet and VeChi-Youth studies (vegan, vegetarian and omnivorous nutrition in children and adolescents) and the Preggie study (vegan and omnivorous nutrition in pregnant women).
In addition to the COPLANT study, current IFPE research projects include the MultiVeg study, in which the effect of a vegan multi-nutrient preparation is being investigated, and the VEGANScreener study, a Europe-wide project in which a screening tool is being developed to record the nutritional quality of vegans.
The examinations for the COPLANT study will take place at the health practice of Dr Petra Bracht & Kollegen in Bad Homburg.
